My favorite rice receipe! Goes with Poly chicken. I got it from my friend Bonnie who is an awesome cook!
Drop 5 chicken bullion cubes into 2 1/2 Cp. of water. Set aside.
Place 1 Cp. white, ( or brown) whole grain NON-INSTANT (yes..there IS such a thing) Rice into a 9X13 glass baking dish. Set aside.
Place into a deep frying pan:
1/2 C butter (real is better)
1/2 C. chopped green onion..OR 1 tsp. onion powder ( cuz we have onion haters!)
1/4 C. chopped green pepper. (optional)
4 oz chopped mushroom, fresh or canned ( optional for mushroom haters!)
1 can water chestnuts, chopped fine.
1 stalk chopped celery ( again..optional) ( gadzooks! don't you people eat anything?)
Saute all this in the butter until the veges are tender..just a minute or two. Pour the chicken bullion water over this, stir and bring it to a boil. Take off the heat. Pour this over the rice in the baking dish. stir a bit. Bake 350* for 45-50 mins or till rice is tender.
